Who doesn’t like getting free stuff?
Based on my experience at various conferences I think I can safely answer that everybody enjoys getting free stuff. From what I have seen, it really doesn’t even matter what the *stuff* is as long as it is free.

When I first started my personal finance blog, Jake was the first person to contact me and offer a link exchange with his more established blog. At the time I was still a PR0 site and Jake extended the invitation to me so I feel very grateful.
Given my interest in writing about personal finances, I was naturally drawn to Jake’s information on how to save more money. More recently he has been writing about how to make more money with blogging, which many of us are interested in as well.

When I first saw your blog I knew that a link exchange would benefit us both in the long run as you had a great blog right off the bat.

I would suggest giving away more webmaster/blogger related stuff.
