Speedlinking - 08 Oct 2007
Each Monday I like to post a little bit of link love with my weekly edition of Speedlinking. The first Monday of the month is dedicated to the top commentators from the previous month but the remaining weeks offer quite a few alternatives.
Some weeks I will highlight articles that I found particularly interesting around the Interweb while other weeks I will highlight the posts of the top referring sites. This week I have opted to share a little link love with the readers that are listed in the BlogCatalog widget located in the footer - selecting five random numbers and the corresponding avatar in the widget.
1. Ange from Buzzing with Ange shared a post about Taggzilla - the ultimate bloggers and marketers support network. I’d never heard of Taggzilla and I am not sure I have room for yet another resource like this but it sounds like they have some pretty cool features.
2. Swollen Pickles (love the name of this site) touched on the impending problems with PayPerPost. I’ve noticed the same issue with quite a few opportunities indicating that you are not permitted to disclose that it is a paid/sponsored post. This is one reason why I have been so pleased with LinkWorth as I have yet to encounter that problem.
3. Tim Nash brings another interesting look at StumbleUpon with his post about centralizing your social world. Until recently I had never used the “Send To” feature of StumbleUpon but have used it a little more in recent weeks after a discussion with another new friend. Tim’s site is still relatively new to me but I am absolutely loving the content that he produces.
4. GettyCash is a site that is new to me. According to the September 2007 revenue report, GettyCash is only a few months old and has started to make a little money. Congratulations on the early success and I hope to see more of you and your site in the future.
5. ONwebCHECK is another site that is new to me and the mention of the Sputnik birthday caught my attention - including the typos although I assume English may not be the first language. Without an “About” page I am left wanting to know more about the person behind the site and hopefully will see this developed more in the coming weeks.
As you can see by this edition of Speedlinking, you never know when your site might be featured and receive a little link love - so be sure to keep the quality content coming.

Thanks for the link Derek. With PayPerPost, I’m really hoping they stamp out that disclosure thing soon, or else I’m going to have to let them go. This is one of the reasons I haven’t taken an opp. for my main blog in so long. Disappointing.
You’re welcome. I’m right there with you on PPP as I’ve been sure to avoid opportunities that require a positive tone and/or do not allow full disclosure. For me the few dollars are not worth it if I cannot post honestly with full disclosure.

So in what way is Linkworth better? PPP seems to offer a good deal to advertisers, and the offers seem to get jumped on fairly quickly by the bloggers, even if they offer peanuts.
If I wanted good quality links fast, PPP would be ideal. If I wanted to make money as a blogger, and I lived in the West, then no.

That’s odd. I compare LinkWorth to Text-Link-Ads…not PPP. Obviously I’m missing something. It’s been awhile since I’ve paid attention to LW and PPP. Maybe it’s “apples to apples” now.

This is what I was replying to. However, on a side note, today I’ve been looking at a few different blogs on this subject, and a significant number are griping about the latest Google PR update, and how PPP and TLA might be behind some blogs getting their PR reduced.

@Ange :: The PPP tools can be a hassle as I recall their site having some issues recognizing I had the code installed and the updates to my rankings were very slow. But PPP does have a large selection of opportunities, unfortunately I feel a lot of them are not worth taking.
@T.O Donnell :: You’re right that PPP offers a quicker opportunity to make money because there are typically more offers. With LinkWorth, you do not pick and choose the opportunity as they have account managers that send you offers for their clients. In my experience, the payout is more significant and I feel the offers are a little better. Plus, as I mentioned, lately it seems more PPP offers are requiring a positive spin with no disclosure and that is not worth it to me at any price.
@Derrich :: LinkWorth has an entire stable of products. One does compare to TLA but their LinkPost product is more along the lines of PPP or even ReviewMe. They also have a product along the lines of Kontera where you can have ads display on particular keywords, although it is not quite as automated/seamless as Kontera.
