Caesars Palace, Craps, Sports Book And (Oh Yeah) A Conference

Caesars Palace

Las Vegas, Nevada

- Sin City

- City of Lights

- The Strip

Here I come baby!

The hotel reservation has been made and I will be staying at Caesars Palace, which will be the first time I am staying there. My previous trips have had me at the Las Vegas Hilton and the Luxor.

While I will be in Vegas during PubCon, I will unfortunately not be attending PubCon as I am traveling to Vegas to attend a conference for work. However, if anyone is attending PubCon let me know and we can try to meet up somewhere to grab a drink or ten.

From a gambling perspective, I am really not a big gambler. I love to play Texas Hold’Em with my buddies but I am not confident enough in my skills to warrant sitting down at a table in Vegas, although Caesars does have a few daily tournaments that you can enter for $65.

Typically I am the guy sitting at the bar playing video poker so I can stay nice and close to the drinks. However, on this trip I am hoping to spend some time at the sports book placing a few wagers and also make a few bets at the craps table.

Craps

I’ve never played craps before so I will be trying to indulge in a crash course on how to play. If there are any craps experts out there, please feel free to pass along your tips and recommendations.

With all of the plans secured and the days ticking by before I leave, I need to think about my issues with packing a suitcase to avoid wrinkling everything. Although I’m thinking that Caesars has got to have a dry cleaning service that I can use once I arrive, as I am terrible with an iron.

Hope to see you in Vegas!

Not to rain on the parade, but I really don’t think it is: For me, it’s too “old” - but that’s the charm for some. It’s “classic Vegas”

I tend to prefer contemporary casinos like The Wynn - if you get a chance, you should swing by and check it out!

Also, there’s an In-N-Out Burger and a Fry’s Electronics out there (toward Mandalay Bay, away from the Strip). If you’ve never been, you have to check out Fry’s - It’s a electronics’s geeks wet dream!

I’ve got a Fry’s Electronics about 20-30 minutes from where I live so I am familiar with the store. The previous times I’ve been to Vegas I have never stopped at In-N-Out Burger but have heard good things.

The Wynn is a very nice place, we stopped in there for a bit the last time I was there.

Ah, I see - for some reason, I assumed that your first trip to Caesars was your first trip to Vegas :opps:

Make sure you come back on Jan 6th 2008 for my party at the Absolut Vodka Suite at the CP during CES 2008. I’ll put you on the guest list ;)

Sweet! I’m not sure if I will be able to swing a return trip within a month, particularly since I cannot even get into CES since it is not open to the public.

Do you need another correspondent? ;)

Have a great time. I wish that I could join you but alas, it is next to impossible. So, I shall simply look forward to your stories on your return.

Sounds like fun, let us know how you do!

I plan on going for the first time for CES, and I’ll be at Stephen’s/John Chow’s little shindig ;)

Have a good time man…I am envious! You have to stop by the RIO for roulette! They have a 15 seat video table with a live wheel. It’s great because you can sit but don’t have to play every hand…and the drinks will come. Let me tell you they will come! We spent hours there last trip to Vegas and had a blast.

Lol, the conference I am attending is at the Rio so I am sure I will have a chance to check out that roulette wheel. Thanks for mentioning it.
