Was the 2nd X-Ray done at the same cool technology place (the one who gave your son the X-Ray DVD but who did not perform the X-Ray correctly or read it well) or at another traditional X-Ray facility?

Regarding information security, if they just have the patient's initials and other non identifiable data, I will not worry about data security even if the DVD is lost.

Digital records are a great idea, but you have to be careful of the information getting lost or stolen. A paper back-up and high security are a must if this new form of records is going to succeed.

Great innovative thought. Electronic medical records would help a lot. simply because their are so many people who forget or misplace their medical report and X-rays reports. By keeping it recorded in an electronic machine would certainly help.

Sorry to hear about your son's arm, but it's probably better by now.

I'm sure in the future he'll enjoy showing his children the DVD.

It looks like a lot of medical companies now are starting to gear up for online medical records. Maybe next time he breaks something they'll just give him a piece of paper with an internet address on it. That would be cool, and a lot harder to lose/break than a DVD.

Aww well there's always next year. I had a fracture myself a long time ago from rollerblading down a hill and I fell. I totally feel the pain your child was going through, though it was more of an irritating pain than an unbearable one. I tried to hide it from my parents thinking it was going to get better itself until we went on a camping trip a couple days later and they saw I couldn't tie my shoe. When I think of it now, its a little embarrassing. I don't know why I just didn't tell them my wrist was messed up.

Anyway, yeah technology has come a long way and its good that the hospitals are keeping up. Next time I get an X-ray I'll definitely ask my hospital if they hand out dvd's for my x-ray... or maybe even blue-rays(a little joke).

Here in south-east Asia, we still use the paper method. Everything need to be documented on the paper. However, the paperless method such as in DVD or computer data is on the way. I believe that it will be the trend (already a trend in the west) in the upcoming days.

I've never seen an x ray on a DVD before but that is a great idea. It seems a lot more practical then a giant x ray that is likely to get bent or lost. I also imagine they can also fit a lot of before and after pictures on there as well.

I've just started back with cricket after a disc op in October - back is fine, it's just the rest of my body that is struggling, especially Achilles tendons. Anyone know a good cure for sore Achilles?

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your son. When i was 17, i had to stop playing basketball because of a groin injury and it seemed like my injury was taking forever to heal. For kids, going through something like that can really depress them if they're not occupying their minds with something else.

And on another note, it's cool that medical technology is so advanced now, but it makes me kinda sad because i wish that it was this advanced years ago. It would have made everyone's life alot easier.
