Monetization Tool :: Performancing Ads Network
Chances are that you have seen the news of the Performancing Ads Network spreading throughout the blogosphere over the last few days.
What is all of the excitement about?
Well, much of the excitement about the launch of the Performancing Ads Network is due to the fact that this gives all blogs the opportunity to sell and manage 125×125 ads on their blog.
So far that might not sound so cool, as you can sell and manage ads on your own.
The cool thing, particularly for smaller publishers, is that PerformancingAds provides a marketplace where your site will be displayed for potential advertisers. Being able to get your site in front of the advertisers is one of the hardest parts of arranging advertising and this network helps you do that.
Once you create your account and add your site, PerformancingAds retrieves a variety of statistics on your site that are displayed within the marketplace. These statistics will help potential advertisers determine the value of your ads, so be sure to price your ads appropriately. As an example, here is a snapshot of the statistics from this blog:

As you can see above, using a price of $10 per week for my two ad spots (located over in the right column of the sidebar) mean that my ads are quite competitive with similar blogs in the PerformancingAds marketplace.
Naturally, one of the keys to success is the ability for the network to attract advertisers. In an effort to encourage more people to advertise, PerformancingAds is currently offering $25 off your first ad purchase of $100 or more.
There are plenty of attractive offers in the marketplace, including the one to advertise on this blog, and this is a great way to increase the exposure of your site to new audiences.
More Cool Features
Not only is PerformancingAds extremely easy to integrate into your site due to the availability of a handy plugin; but there are plenty of other features that are sure to make this attractive to any blogger looking to sell advertising space on their blog.
- Book your own ads. Once you sign up for the service, you have the ability to book your own ads. This option is ideal for things such as advertising your own affiliate offers or promoting special deals.
- Publisher exchange program. When your ad space is not sold, you have the option to display other publisher ads in your empty spots. This earns you credits which can then be used to purchase ad space on other sites.
- Passive income potential. PerformancingAds has a pretty slick affiliate program where you earn $10 for each publisher or advertiser that you refer plus an additional 5% of all advertising buys for life. Did you catch that last part? This means that as long as an advertiser that you refer spends money advertising, you are earning money.
- Competitive payout. When you sell ads through the PerformancingAds marketplace, you earn a minimum 60% of the total cost. If you use the site to book your own ads, you earn 100% of any revenue.
- Ability to configure ads. Just about everything is available for you to configure as you control where the ads will appear; how many are displayed; how much spacing between ads; price of your ads; filter out ads by keyword and/or domain.
While the ad network is still new and it might take some time to realize the full potential, I am rather impressed with the overall layout and structure of the site. One thing that has been a little disappointing, although makes perfect sense, is that when you attempt to purchase an advertisement there is an approval process that needs to be satisfied before your ad is accepted and published.
If you’ve entertained the thought of adding 125×125 banners to your site, or already have them and just want to increase your exposure, I recommend giving this ad network a try.
The worst case scenario is that you sign up and don’t sell any ads, although with the use of the exchange program you will still be able to have your ad shared on other sites for free exposure.

I’ve seen tons of posts about them lately, but haven’t yet checked out their site…I guess I’m just generally underimpressed by ad sales programs (not that I’m selling many as it is) but maybe I should check them out :S I guess it can’t hurt.

You’re right that many of the programs are underwhelming for smaller blogs, although with this program I like the flexibility that I can still do my own thing and just use them to manage my ad spots.
I just added this and hopefully it will be good. So far none of the affiliates I have tried have worked for me except for private ad sales.

I’m in a similar boat as most of my affiliate banners have not produced anything, although that is somewhat to be expected as affiliate banners often don’t convert well.
Sounds like a good ad network. Especially if they’re opening it to all blogs, irrespective of traffic or PR. The referral helps, i suppose.
It is nice that the network is open to blogs of all sizes, although that also adds to the volume in the marketplace that you are competing against to sell spots.
PerformancingAds development team comes with proven track records and I’ve joined them with high expectation of this new ad buy/sell/exchange network.
However, I still can’t understand what the “book your own ads” service is all about…

The ability to book your own ads can be used if you want to show your own ad banners, whether that be for an affiliate link that you have or maybe you already sold a private ad deal.
As an example, assume you have a current private ad displaying a 125×125 banner on your site. In their interface, you would create an advertisement using the existing banner image that you are displaying. Then you would navigate to your listing, select the desired region, and click the “Book” button.
This will then let you “book” that ad to display on your blog just like if an advertiser had purchased one of your ad spots. The advantage to this is that you can incorporate all of your ads into one management interface.
Does that make sense?
Yes, I got it now!
The service allows users to serve private ads using PerformancingAds interface, without them taking a cut off that private ad sales.
We enjoy the convenience of using a common ad serving interface for private ads and ads sold from PerformancingAds marketplace.
Thanks for your explanation Derek!
PerformanceAds seems to be interesting and great. I will surely give this a try. Thanks for sharing this informative post mate!
I like that banner that gives all the rankings stats.
hmm, thanks for the info derek, something to look into. Although since all i have is a “family” blog, idk if it would be worth it.
Don’t sell yourself short, you’re building a great blog. Something like the banner exchange could help get your name out in in front of more people and you never know who might be looking to buy advertising.
well, i will definitally look further into it when i get a chance this weekend. is there a referral program? i want to make sure i mention your name.
There is a referral program, simply navigate to the site via any of the links here on this post and you will be using my affiliate id.
Never even really thought about Performance ads before this. Thanks
I am quite comfortable as I am. I think that I shall wait and watch for a while. I am too small for anything this flashy!
That’s cool, but as I mentioned to Andrea, don’t think you are too small to possibly benefit from offering ads on your site.
This is the first I’ve heard of their new network. I’ll need to try them out - it’s always nice to start trying out a new ad network, so thanks!

You’re welcome, hopefully you find it works well for you and allows you to bring in some new revenue.
How new are these guys? I feel like I’ve known about them for a long time, or maybe that’s just because there are a lot of similar ad networks out there. Not to say this one isn’t unique; it certainly sounds like it holds a lot of promise.
Performancing.com has been around for awhile and at one time they had an active ad network. However, the site had changed owners and the new owners shut down the ad network until they were able to redesign it and launch the most recent network.
I have not had much luck yet with selling ads. I make more from affiliate programs. But I guess since they allow you to serve your own ads until you get paying advertisers, I might consider this one.
Yeah, having the ability to serve your own ads makes this an attractive option as it offers the flexibility of using whatever works the best for your blog.
Re: your affiliate programs, are you referring to the use of affiliate banners or posts using affiliate links? I’ve not had much success at all with affiliate banners, fair amount of clicks but no conversions recorded.
I’ve always stayed away from ads on the basis that they might detract from the focus of my sites, this sounds worth looking at though….am I brave enough!
It is quite interesting.
