In the time since “officially” becoming a blogger, one thing that has been a focal point for me is sharing the wealth. That has taken a variety of forms, including the ability to provide tips and tricks that I have learned over the years or being in a position to donate time and/or funds to a worthwhile cause.
As many of you know, another way that I like to share the wealth is by distributing a healthy dose of link love to people that stop by this blog, as well as people that I find interesting in some way.
For this edition of Speedlinking, I wanted to share a handful of links from a few friends – one I’ve known nearly my entire life while others I have known since I began blogging and a couple that I have yet to really “meet” but I hope to soon.
1. The person behind GrowMap is someone that I’ve known online for some time now and I have a feeling one of the reasons we have clicked is that we both believe in some of the same things. One of those things just happens to be that we both love sharing the link love on our blogs. Thanks for all of your generosity!
2. Over at nerdhook, you will find Ryan, one of my friends that I have known for much of my life. Knowing him like I do, I can understand why this happens to be the oddest item that the “Amazon Remembers” service remembers for him. Since Ryan is still relatively new to blogging, I’d love it if you can jump over and share a few thoughts with him as well (there, now you can stop begging Ryan, lol).
3. Two people that I have been seeing more and more of across the Interweb yet haven’t had the pleasure to chat with are Louis Gray and Mike Fruchter. As a sign of perfect timing, I came across 10 pointers to generating traffic to your blog, which happens to be a guest post from Mike on Louis’ blog. Give it a read to see which things you are doing well and where you can improve, and feel free to let me know where you think I can improve too.
4. One of the people that I have known since my early days with blogging is Stephen from Stephen Fung DOT NET. I’ve even had an opportunity to review a LowePro camera bag for his site FutureLooks.com, and have another bag in my possession now. But the post that recently caught my eye, considering I need to do the same for my MacBook, was his video on upgrading his MacBook Pro memory from 2GB to 4GB. Why did it take so long Stephen?
5. Another person that I have noticed around the Interweb recently but again have not had the chance to connect with yet is “Stupid Blogger” from Is This Stupid?. Having been frustrated myself recently with certain services, I appreciated this post on why Technorati sucks – and it might not be for the reasons you are thinking.

I slowed it down so that Mac Users could follow along
I can build a whole PC within the run time of that video

Lol! I did notice a little editing when you were removing the 2nd DIMM. What happened there?
I think I dropped something and swore. Whoops

btw, i have replaced the memory on my ol’ ibook my macbook and it took literally less that 3 mins each. So I am interested in seeing the video.
Maybe it is the user and not the product…..things that make you go hmmm? [insert crappy song here]
So are you slamming Mac users? LOL.

If you haven’t chatted with Mike or me, it’s not because we are hard to find! I am sure it will happen.

Absolutely, as I have been seeing your name popping up on numerous sites that I frequent; it is just a matter of “when” not “if”.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
Great blog. Very nice resource. I have a blog on making money on the internet. Please do visit.
Nice post derek. Some Nice sites to look at, haven’t looked at them all yet but it will give me something to do in work today and tomorrow. thanks

Thank you for sharing the link 10 pointers to generating traffic to your blog. I liked this post but specially the link I mentioned above help me a lot.
Happy to hear that you enjoyed that post and that it was able to offer you some help. If you haven’t already, please be sure to comment on that post as well to let them know you found it helpful.

Awesome, awesome, keep on sharing that love.
Being brought up on the web, I’ve always felt the same. You gotta give back to the community. Stumbling you up, bro.
Absolutely, giving back to the community is extremely important to me. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your link favorites. Got some noted in my RSS feed

Read that last link from ‘Stupid Blogger’. I can imagine the frustration when you can’t do anything about a login. And Technorati is getting rather cumbersome now.
Yeah, not being able to access sites/services due to the failure of another would be quite frustrating.
Stupid Blogger is a site worth visiting regularly. His post on technorati is indeed interesting and as you said, for unusual reasons.
I must also compliment you on your philosophy of sharing link love!

I might be completely off on this but I believe that “Stupid Blogger” is a woman, at least that is what I gathered after browsing around and seeing some of the comments.
Thanks for the compliment.
That’s yet another interesting thing about the ‘net though Derek. If you are blogging or browsing forums, you will almost inevitably assume the poster is male unless they make it blatantly obvious with their user name or title.
Or is that just me….
No, I do think you are right that the assumption is often that the person is male.
However, one person that I think could make an argument for that is Maki from DoshDosh. Many people believe Maki to be female due to the anime and avatars, but in fact Maki is male.
I’ve really been enjoying your blog and I’ve noticed how generous you are with showing link love. We need more bloggers like you!

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been browsing around your site, you’ve got some nice work with the graphic editing.
Derek, I appreciate the mention and it’s nice to ‘meet’ you =) The Technocrati Open ID issue still has me rather annoyed, and I’m now trying to decide exactly which service deserves my trust and confidence when it comes to providing me with access to all my other services. The ideal solution would be to host my own, but I’m just going to be honest: I’m a little too lazy for that… Oh, and yes: I have lady parts!
Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)s last blog post..Google Is a Little Scary Today…
It is for that reason that I have resisted Open ID, as I have not found one service that I feel comfortable putting that much trust into at this point.
Thanks for setting the record straight!
Thanks as always for including me. I’ve started visiting the other sites you’ve shared and have posted some of them at FriendFeed so more people will find them. I hope you’ll all come visit me too.

I love the term link love. Is it a common term in the link building community or is it something created by you?
