Very Cool WordPress Plugins Directory

WordPress Plugins Directory

In case you missed the announcement on your WordPress dashboard the other day, there was an announcement about a new user interface to plugins that should help with finding plugins for your WordPress blog.
From the little bit that I have been poking around the plugins directory, I think it is really pretty cool as it lets you see how many times a plugin has been downloaded and provides the ability to rate plugins and add comments to a plugin. This looks like it has the potential to develop into an outstanding resource.
I know that I will be keeping an eye on this new directory to watch out for new or updated plugins that might make the reading experience more enjoyable. If you have authored a plugin, be sure to submit your plugin to the directory as it will help give you more exposure and it will give the rest of us a better chance of enjoying your plugin.

Yep, this is the first place I go when looking for a plug-in. Being part of the WordPress.org domain, I feel I can trust the integrity of the software more than if I were to download that same plug-in from a website (could be a false sense of security but it works for me 🙂 )
Now that this interface has been up and running for a few months I have had a hard time submitting plug-ins though (my plug-in has been in the queue for over two months now). This is a great site nonetheless. I also have been browsing http://wp-plugins.net. The submission process is not as rigorous but it looks like a good place for plug-ins as well — worth a look.
