Earlier tonight I had checked my Technorati ranking and things were still about the same, with a slight improvement to about 430,000 or thereabouts. That is not too bad considering that this time last week I was up over 2.3 million, still a long way away from reaching my first defined goal of cracking the 100,000 barrier.
Here it is just about an hour later and I noticed that I had a new comment from MsDanielle indicating that her Technorati ranking had just jumped way up. Seeing the large increase that she experienced (thanks for the heads-up Danielle), I decided to check my numbers again and was in for quite a shock.
Huh? That is quite an increase in a short period of time and I think there are a few influencing factors. One factor is that I picked up a nice link from Stephen Fung in his latest speedlinking post, which has added benefit because Stephen was recently reinstated at Technorati.
Of course another significant factor are the two links that I picked up from the evil one himself, John Chow. Seeing that many of the readers here are fellow *Chowites* you understand the power that a link from his site can bring.
As you can see in the image above, I have 101 links from 55 blogs. Looking through my links, it appears that most of them are coming from the one post at John Chow dot Com but are being listed multiple times. So that would indicate that my numbers are not entirely accurate but it is still really cool to see that I have surpassed another one of my goals so quickly in the life of this blog.
However, one thing saddens me and that is to see that I have only been *favorited* by two people and one of those is just me being narcissistic. I have to give a shout to Leo Chiang for being the other. But this makes me wonder why nobody else wants to show me some Technorati love?

My feeling is that, if the ranking system at Technorati do not count all links from a blog to be just one unique link, then it is a pretty big flaw on their side. At this point in time, ranking simply means nothing.
You’re absolutely correct that the ranking really doesn’t hold much true value but it is still fun to see that rank increase. It will be interesting to see how Technorati addresses the issue with blogs counting as multiple links.
I agree, the Technorati rank, while impressive is not accurate and is just great for the narcissistic ego.
You know I show you mad cyber love 😉
hey thanks for the link 🙂 you know, i was thinking about this whole speed linking thing and i think i’m going to try it out too. i’ll link to your post about the free t-shirt. that’s HELLA funny! lol
No problem. The speedlinking thing is fun and helps get exposure to other blogs you or your readers might not find otherwise.
So you have any MsDanielle t-shirts or what? 😉
Manly Technorati Love expressed 😉
Thanks for the Technorati love, much appreciated and I have seen the ranking jump up even more over night.
It seems John Chows links from his blog are stuffing up a lot of peoples technorati ranks, lol.
Mine hasnt changed 🙁
Hang in there, it might take a little time as I know there was a little delay before I saw my site pop.
I’m not a big fan of Technorati right now . . . it’s becoming the alexa of Blogging stats and that’s not a good thing!
I think you are right, unfortunately.
My rank went from 83k to 78k today.
I find it silly how it works, but like others have said, it’s fun to see it decrease 🙂
Up to about 29K here. I seem to be rather big in japan!
Nice! My main traffic comes from Canada since it seems like there is a large pocket of Chowites up there spreading the evil blog love.
