As I was bouncing around the Interweb tonight I came across a site about the Nitto Scion tC, which is a sponsored car that has taken a Scion tC and modified it to the point that it is turning out 500+ horsepower.
In reading the forums about this car, you can imagine that the biggest problem is traction when you are dealing with that kind of power in a car the size of the Scion tC. I’ve never driven a car with that kind of power before but would absolutely love the opportunity to see what it is like to drive.
Somehow I think my long commute to and from work would be so much more fun if my own Scion tC had half of that horsepower. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the money to sink into a car that I am putting 500-600 miles on each week. If only I could find a sponsor that would modify my car for me and I would return the favor by driving it in heavy city traffic as a rolling billboard for their company. Hey, there is nothing wrong with dreaming!

just save up for that Supra Hybrid coming out . . . i can’t wait to get that thing!
I’ve heard various reports on when the Supra should be out but I doubt I will be in the market for a new car by then. My phiolosophy is to drive a car into the ground before it is replaced. Given that I am expecting my Scion to last awhile but we will have to see, 400hp from a hybrid would be pretty sweet.
Just visited their website, and that thing does look pretty sweet!
I’d love to take that thing around the track a few times. I’m always telling my wife that I missed my calling as a race car driver, although I guess everyone thinks they are a great driver. 🙂
That is some serious power to weight ratio, traction being a real issue, fuel + tyres? I think I will stick to my little toyota 🙂
i wish i would have the opportunity to see what it is like to drive that car.
This car was definitely built as a showcase vehicle. The guy who built it, Kenny Tran, has been drag racing for years. But yeah any front wheel drive with more than 250 HP is a waste. Although there are some smoking fast front wheel drive drag cars….heck there is even a drag racing Honda Insight.
