About two weeks ago I began my adventure to become a t-shirt whore. It is really pretty simple – you send me a free t-shirt and I post a review of the website of your choice.
Earlier this week I officially became a t-shirt whore when I received my first free t-shirt courtesy of Leo Chiang and his clothing line Exit Gear – Urban Fight Wear.
First and foremost, I will get the embarrassing part out of the way because in addition to writing a review I agreed to post pictures of myself wearing the free t-shirt. You might want to cover your eyes for this part as seeing an out of shape married man wearing fight gear is not a pretty site. 🙂
Leo Chiang
For those that do not already know about Leo Chiang, you might want to pay close attention because he is building an impressive acting career. While I have still not seen the movie myself, Leo had a role in the Ben Stiller movie titled “Night At The Museum”.
In addition to that, you can see Leo on Battlestar Galactica and he is currently working on an upcoming miniseries titled “Tin Man” that is expected to be out around December 2007. Heck, I am just impressed by the fact that Leo has a page on IMDb. If that is not enough to satisfy your celebrity craving, be sure to check out the On The Set category over at Leo’s blog.
Moving on from the growing list of acting credentials, you might wonder what Leo does in his spare time. Well, as a frequent visitor to his blog I can tell you that this man likes to eat and I am sure you will find your mouth watering with some of the restaurant reviews. One of my personal favorites is the review of the Incredible Hulk Burger. It’s a good thing that I do not live in Vancouver otherwise those pictures above would be even worse!
If the comfort food at Memphis Blues does not have your mouth watering, then maybe you need to check out the babes! Recently, Leo shared a terrific post featuring the beautiful Karen Pang. To be honest, I think the post actually contained some words as well but I was hypnotized by the pictures. 🙂
Rather than continue to go on and on about how Leo Chiang DOT COM is a great blog, I encourage you to head over there now and explore. Don’t be shy either, Leo encourages comments with the reward of a link back for the top comment whores (you’ll find me in that list).
Exit Gear – Urban Fight Wear
As you explore Leo’s blog, you are bound to come across the mention of Exit Gear – Urban Fight Wear. Exit Gear is Leo’s very own clothing line that is geared towards the mixed martial arts athletes and fans. As a big fan of mixed martial arts, wearing an Exit Gear t-shirt is probably about as close as I am going to get though.
When you check out the Exit Gear site, you will notice that the site is still under development but I doubt you will be too concerned as you enjoy the introduction that includes pictures of gorgeous ladies fashioning some of the Exit Gear clothing line. Leo needs to take that intro off the continuous loop though as the last time I visited I kept watching for about an hour! 😉
As a reward to all of my readers, Leo has graciously offered that if you contact him and mention that you were referred by Derek Semmler you will be able to order an Exit Gear t-shirt for only $20, which includes shipping.
All I can say is that I am wearing my Exit Gear shirt as I write this post and I feel like a bad-ass blogger right now. Once you take Leo up on this offer and buy a shirt, snap a pic and send it to me so I can create a post highlighting the Exit Gear community!

Looks good Derek! glad it fits, lol. But just in case you may wanna avoid putting it in the dryer, looks a little tight in the waist 😉
Lol, that is just too much waist for the shirt! If this thing gets in the dryer, my wife will have a new shirt to sleep in.
I swear this is an awesome promotion. I just wish I had some friggin t-shirts to send you. If I send you a old click2asia one, would you do a review of my site? 🙂
Hey, I’ll take whatever I can get and it doesn’t have to be new or anything. If you want to send me that click2asia shirt or anything else, drop me an email and I’ll pass along details.
OK. I’ll go look for some extra ones!
Great idea Derek! I’ll see if I can get you something soon! =)
Kelly, sounds like a plan! Let me know when you have something and I will provide details.
This is a good idea for a nice little publicity trade-off that I’ve been seeing more and more around the blogosphere.
Good thinking 🙂
Thanks….so do you have a t-shirt to send me? 😉
Seems to be working well Derek! This post has seen the most comments than all your previous posts. Must be the sexy shirt 😉
Yeah, this post has grabbed quite a bit more attention and it’s either the sexy shirt or my outstanding review of your sites. 😆
I can send you some of my old tshirts if you like 😉
What, no t-shirts for your band? Hey, as long as you don’t mind having your name attached to the t-shirt when I write the review of your site then go ahead and send me whatever.
We are working on breaking in a new singer. Might have some progress on the merch soon.
Cool, hopefully you guys will put out some more samples of your tunes as I’ve listened a few times while cranking out code at work.
We have 6 out of the 9 songs worked out. Hope to have some rough copies up in the next 6 weeks or so.
I’ll be keeping my eye out for new stuff from you guys.
Cool idea indeed. I will be starting a t-shirt design contest for OCIA.net here in the next few days, and will def. have to send you over a copy of the winning design for review 🙂
Thanks Shawn! I’ll be keeping an eye on that contest and if my graphic skills were worth anything I might try to enter.
Thanks for sharing this information.

Very nice quote on the t shirt. Anybody can enter the ring its how u exit that count. I may be interested in printing such custom t shirt
Finally a creative idea of publicity trade-off. I’ve been looking for more around the blogosphere but non off them are impressive.
