As I wrote last night at My New Choice, I received my copy of TaxCut from Amazon.com and proceeded to spend an exciting Friday night working on my taxes.
After running through the return a couple of times to verify that everything was accurate, I submitted my return around 1:30am and figured that I would have to wait until Monday to receive the email from the IRS that my return had been accepted. Instead I had checked my email earlier this morning and there was an email indicating my return had been accepted.
Once I saw that email, I opened up TaxCut and completed the process of filing my return and printed an extra copy for my records. With my federal tax return completed, I logged into my state’s website and completed my state return as well. The state return is very basic and only takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.
So I sit here now with both my federal and state tax returns submitted and only have to wait for my modest refunds to arrive via direct deposit. This is the latest in the year that I have ever completed my taxes and I have to admit that I don’t really like waiting this long. Unfortunately my work schedule prevented me from doing this earlier, or maybe it was just the different ways that I found to procrastinate filing my income taxes.
Either way, my taxes are done for the year and it is a nice relief to have that behind me. If anyone is still holding out on filing their taxes, I still have that free copy of TaxCut available at My New Choice. Let me know if you’re interested!
