Obsessive Thoughts

I’ve been tagged by Saman with his post on Obsessive Thoughts. For those not familiar with what this means, I now need to list 5 of my obsessions and then tag 5 additional bloggers. My obsessions include the following:

  1. Family: Much like Saman, my wife and two boys come first in my life. My wife and I have been together for quite some time now and I honestly cannot imagine one day without her, she brings an absolute joy to my life. While 2 boys can be a real handful at times, I would not trade that for anything as it is so much fun to be with them and be a part of their lives.
  2. Checkbook: Running a personal finance blog, you might guess one of my obsessions is money. But the checkbook takes that obsession to a new level, it’s really a sickness. While I do most of that on the computer now, I always have to balance to the exact penny and used to get annoyed when my wife would write in the check register with her oversized, messy handwriting. Oh yeah, one other thing is I always used blue ink in the register. Hey, I said I was obsessed. 😆
  3. Sports: Whether it be playing them in the yard with my kids or a nice game of tackle football in the middle of winter with my aging, out of shape friends – I’m obsessed with sports. This blends into watching them as well but the only sport I obsess with watching is football. In the summer, as soon as I get home from work I’m usually out shooting baskets with the kids or tossing the baseball around.
  4. Cheese: From the “did you really just say that” department, I am obsessed with cheese. In my opinion, cheese is one of the best foods and I have considered it to be an appetizer, main course or even dessert. A few of my favorites include smoked string cheese on the road home from Wisconsin, muenster cheese and any variety of spicy cheese. To top that off, you can complete the experience with some gorgonzola stuffed olives, delicious!
  5. Blogging: I hate to steal another obsession from Saman but if I am not spending time with any of the obsessions noted above, I’m likely sitting at my computer working on a new post or exploring other sites. Running two blogs has been a lot of work in addition to the fulltime job and making sure not to take away from #1, but it has been so much fun. I’ve *met* so many new and interesting people and continue to try and expand that network. Of course, I’m planning that all of this hard work will result in additional dollars that will ultimately lead to more time to spend with my family.

So there you have 5 of my obsessions. There are more but you might really begin to think I’m strange if I share all of those with you, so I gave you the *safe* obsessions.
Now it is time to tag 5 more bloggers and I hope not to repeat a tag. Let’s find out the obsessions of: Leo Chiang, Nick Pruett, Tyler Ingram, David Grimmett and Kelly Cho.
