Text Link Ads Offers New Choices

As Derrich mentioned the other day, Text Link Ads is now offering post level ads to publishers that use their WordPress plugin.

While this site has not yet been approved for TLA (and I haven’t used my own tip of calling them to gain approval yet), I am running TLA on my personal finance blog. Naturally, I immediately visited the TLA website to grab the latest WordPress plugin for my site and noticed a few new features.
Sidebar Widget
As I stepped through the process to generate my code, I noticed that there was a new option regarding a sidebar widget. If your theme is widget-enabled, TLA now offers their own sidebar widget that allows you to enter a custom heading and the rest is handled automatically.
The one thing that I do not care for with the sidebar widget is that I like to include a TLA Referral Link beneath the list of purchased ads. I’d like for their sidebar widget to provide the flexibility of adding custom links to the widget.
Auto-Formatted Links
Another new feature being offered with the latest plugin is the ability to have your links auto-formatted by your theme. While iti was possible to tweak the formatting before, the TLA code included inline styles that required some manipulation to get working the way you may have wanted.
Now you have the ability to let your theme style the formatting of the links to match with the rest of your site. This is an option that I implemented in the new plugin because it makes it much cleaner to format my links.
Get the Plugin
If you’ve been approved for Text Link Ads and are running WordPress on your site, I highly recommend that you download and install the new plugin. Even if you are not excited about the sidebar widget and auto-formatting options, you will at least have another source of links to see within your posts.
On my personal finance site, I’ve now sold 5 out of the 6 open ad slots on my sidebar and will be watching for some post level ads to be sold soon. Once I sell the 6th ad slot on the sidebar, I will likely increase that to the maximum of 10 ads. As of right now, I still have 2 open ad slots in my RSS feed as well so there is still room for growth.
