As soon as I saw the trailer for “The Bourne Ultimatum”, I knew that this was a movie that I had to see in the theater and I had that opportunity today.

As much as I enjoyed the first two films in this series, I think this may have been the most exciting one of the bunch. The movie begins with a rush of action that picks up right where “The Bourne Supremacy” had left off and the action rarely takes a break throughout the entire movie.
Director Paul Greengrass has done an outstanding job with this movie. The unique hand-held camera work, which my wife felt at times made it difficult to follow the action, adds to the suspense and urgency as Jason Bourne does his best to stay one step ahead of the people trying to bring him down.
Bourne is on a mission to learn his true identity and takes you on a thrilling journey through cities such as Moscow, London, Madrid and New York City. The action sequences are suspenseful and breath-taking while not being completely over the top like other action films.
New to the film is David Strathairn who plays the role of Noah Vosen, head of the covert operations within the CIA. He does an outstanding job in this role and is involved in one of my favorite scenes from the film:
Noah Vosen: [in car, on cell phone] Perhaps we can arrange a meet.
Jason Bourne: Where are you now?
Noah Vosen: I’m sitting in my office.
Jason Bourne: I doubt that.
Noah Vosen: Why would you doubt that?
Jason Bourne: If you were in your office right now we’d be having this conversation face-to-face.

As Bourne struggles to learn the missing pieces of his identity, you will be treated to amazing car chases, hand-to-hand battles and foot pursuit that takes Bourne over and through buildings.
If you enjoyed the first two films in the series, I highly recommend that you check out what is supposedly the final film for Jason Bourne. For those that have not seen the other entries in the series, as my wife had not, you will still be treated to an intense, action-packed movie that is well worth the price of admission.

Jeez … now I want to see it even more!
I’ve been a huge fan of the Bourne series, and I think that Matt Damon is the perfect Jason Bourne. I’d love to see this in the theatres, too.
Did they leave the ending open for a 4th film?
There is a new 4th book, The Bourne Betrayal. Written by another author though so I’m not sure if it will be up to the level of Robert Ludlum’s.
Have only seen the first one, do you think i should see the 2nd before watching this or does it not matter?
Ultimatum is supposed to pick up right where Supremacy left off, so you might want to see it first 🙂
@Jason :: I agree that Matt Damon has done an outstanding job with becoming Jason Bourne. IMO, the movie does leave an opening for a 4th movie but I am not sure if it will ever materialize.
@Leo :: Have you read any of the books? I haven’t but after seeing the three movies I was thinking about picking them up to see what they are like.
@Glen :: As Jason mentioned, Ultimatum resumes right where Supremacy ended so from a storyline perspective it will certainly help if you see the 2nd one first. However, my wife had not seen any of the previous movies and she really enjoyed this one.
Thanks for the review. I did not even realize they came out with a third one.
A nice series to watch, I still love to watch this movie in theaters. All three parts are really awesome and I am still waiting for the fourth one to come.
Starting with the books, they’re incredibly well conceived, so there’s no doubt the whole trilogy would turn out to be just as great. I’m still unsure about the 4th one, but it’s always worth to watch 😉
I’m looking forward to The Bourne Legacy. Even though it won’t have Matt Damon, it should be a good one nonetheless.

I don’t know…the preview looks okay but I am not sold on it yet as I think Damon made the series what it is, and without him I’m not convinced it will live up to my expectations.
