Day In The Life of Milton Waddams From Office Space

Milton Waddams from Office Space

Office Space is one of my favorite movies that I can watch over and over again.
There are so many great scenes in that movie and anyone that has worked in an office can likely relate to at least a few of the scenarios.
One character in that movie is Milton Waddams. He is the guy that gets crapped on continually throughout the movie, including the number of times he has been asked to move his desk:

And I said, I don’t care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I’m, I’m quitting, I’m going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they’ve moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn’t bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it’s not okay because if they take my stapler then I’ll set the building on fire…

Moving My Office
This weekend I need to move my home office to another part of the house if I want to have access to the Interweb for the next three to four days.
We are having our house painted and one of the rooms being painted will be my office. The painting crew will be repairing any blemishes in the drywall and sanding down the walls and trim before starting to paint. Initially I had hoped to just move everything to the center of the office but with the potential for a high amount of dust in the air, I’ll feel better moving all of the computer equipment.
Unfortunately, when we replaced our old laptop with the two desktops I didn’t go with the wireless network cards so I’ll have to move just about everything. Then a few days later, I will have to move it all back again just like Milton.
Interrupting My Routine
As I mentioned yesterday, one of the basic rules of blogging is do not force a post just to have a post for that day.
Over the next few days, I just wanted everyone to know that if this blog is quiet it could just be because my home office is in a state of disrepair and I am having issues accessing the Interweb.
I am very much a creature of habit and having my normal routine interrupted will not be pleasant. But my wife tells me that everything will look so much nicer once it is painted and since I did not want to paint the house myself, I’ll have to deal with the interruption to my routine.
By the way, has anyone seen my stapler?

I LOVE that movie! I don’t know if I could pick a favorite character because it was cast so darned well. I just love the interaction between Peter and his boss. Maybe you should pick up a cake for the day of the big office move 🙂

If I did pick up a cake, you can be sure that I would end up not getting a piece just like Milton! 🙂

I’m sorry! I used it to staple my daughter’s pants to her shirt. Darn hit huggers. Have fun moving. 🙂

I love Office Space! I prefer the tv version over the dvd. There are very few movies I can watch over and over again but this is one of them.
We here lines from it at the office. 🙂 Always makes for a good laugh.

I’m glad I don’t have to move everything out of my office. I don’t know where I’d put everything, plus it would take awhile. My office is the biggest room in my apartment (talk about having your priorities straight) and I know exactly where my stapler is.

So, how many pieces of flair do you have?

@Rose :: Did you staple the shirt to the pants to cover that new tattoo? 😛
@Jake :: It is very funny when someone drops a line from the movie at work, sometimes it is so fitting.
@Nick :: I’m actually pretty lucky as my office is relatively clean of clutter and I’m only going to move the actual equipment to keep it out of the dust and set it up in the spare bedroom.
@Michael :: I don’t have any flair because I was busy playing on the “Jump to Conclusions” mat.

Oh, that’s bummer. I know how it is when everything’s a mess. BTW good point about worthless blog posts there 🙂

@Dez :: My wife actually got me a red stapler just like old Milton. 😆
@jews :: The office move went fairly smooth although I had some connection issues earlier today. But I got all of that straightened out in time to do my fantasy football draft. It’s all about priorities!

I got in to the habit of posting at 9.00am for the sake of it and it was a real mistake. waiting around until 3/4pm if thats what it takes usually gives a much better offering for a blog – in my case anyway.

I’ve recently done the whole move thing and I can’t believe what a hoarder I’m turning into. Isn’t alwasys the case though – when to throw something away, within a week you find you needed it for something…

Yeah me too, Office Space is one of the movies you shouldn’t miss to watch. Great thing I’m neat in my things here in my office.
