Famous People Named Derek

Yesterday I had mentioned the website keyword suggestions tool and how you could use it to find relevant keywords for your own site.
As I was browsing through the results for this blog, I was interested to see the list of suggested keywords related to the name Derek. When I saw this list of names, I thought it would be fun to provide a list of the famous people, or at least the most searched for people, named Derek.

• Derek Jeter

  

  There probably aren’t too many people that are unfamiliar with Derek Jeter, starting shortstop for the New York Yankees.

  Derek Jeter has been playing with the Yankees for his entire MLB career, which is something that is not very common in the current era of free agency. Personally, I’m not a fan of the Yankees or of Derek Jeter but there is no mistaking his popularity.

• Bo Derek

  

  Another famous Derek that is likely known to most people, Bo Derek rose to stardom and her status as a sex symbol after co-starring in the movie 10 in 1979.

  As a kid, I remember being teased about my name as kids would call me Bo Derek. Who’s laughing now? Okay, it still sucks to have been called a woman’s name but I guess it could have been worse. Maybe.

• Derek and the Dominos

  

  While not technically a person named Derek, the band Derek and the Dominos receive quite a bit of attention for having released only one studio album.

  Derek and the Dominos were formed in 1970 by guitarist and singer Eric Clapton with keyboardist Bobby Whitlock, bassist Carl Radle and drummer Jim Gordon.

  By the way, I’ve been asked where the Dominos are before when people have heard my name is Derek. I guess that is better than being called Bo Derek.

• Life with Derek

  

  Derek Venturi, played by actor Michael Seater, is a teenager dealing with life in a more modern version of the Brady Bunch. The show, Life with Derek, has been fairly successful on the Disney channel.

  My kids enjoy the show and I have to admit that I have watched it with them from time to time and the show is mildly entertaining, or maybe I just fall into a trance watching a show that co-stars Ashley Leggat.

• Derek Daniel

  

  I have to admit that when I first saw the name Derek Daniel in the list of keywords, I assumed it was a typo by people looking for Danielle Derek.

  When I did a little searching of my own, I realized that there is a freelance photographer and graphic design artist from Tuscaloosa, AL named Derek Daniel.

  Whether this is who people are looking to find I cannot say for sure, but he has some pretty cool work so I am going to list him here.

• Derek Prince

  

  Derek Prince was an internationally recognized Bible teacher who hosted the daily radio program Today with Derek Prince.

• Danielle Derek

  

  Danielle Derek is a famous porn star, although I had never heard the name and I am not just saying that because my wife might be reading this post. But let me tell you, it was very hard to find a picture of Danielle Derek with clothes on.

• Derek Sherinian

  

  Derek “Caligula of Keyboards” Sherinian is a keyboardist from Los Angeles. Including a handful of solo albums, Derek Sherinian has also worked with musicians such as Alice Cooper, Billy Idol and KISS.

• Derek Webb

  

  Following the trend of musicians, Derek Webb is a singer-songwriter from Memphis, Tennessee. Derek Webb was a member of Caedmon’s Call before leaving the band to release a few solo albums. Earlier this year he rejoined Caedmon’s Call.

• Derek Trucks Band

  

  Derek Trucks, named one of the “New Guitar Gods” by Rolling Stone, formed the Derek Trucks Band in 1994. In 1999, Derek Trucks joined his uncle, drummer Butch Trucks, as a member of The Allman Brothers Band.
