Last week I was tagged by Damien Riley to participate in his “NonBlog Meme”.
The idea behind this meme is to pick three things that enrapture, consume, fascinate, or otherwise enliven you more than blogging. Then write a few lines about each to explain what the nonblog activity does for you, why and how. If you’ve been tagged or would otherwise like to participate, here are the rules:
- After your intro, copy/paste this line and the rules below it: The originator wants to see how far it goes so please keep his link intact: http://rileycentral.net
- Encourage people to post with the incentive of a link by including those who have passed it along here:

The NonBlog Meme
While much of my time is consumed between the full-time job and working on the various blogs that I author, I do have a few activities that I truly enjoy away from the computer and blogging.
Playing with my kids: This one is a slam dunk for me and it isn’t so much the activity as it is just spending time with them doing things that they enjoy. My oldest son plays baseball and he loves to play catch, which is something I always enjoyed doing with my dad and now have the opportunity to enjoy with my son. My youngest son has aspirations to be an ultimate fighter, so he loves to get down on the floor and wrestle/fight. Regardless of what they want to do, spending time playing with them is certainly a nonblog activity that I enjoy.
Riding my Harley: Unfortunately there hasn’t been nearly as much time for this as I would like but getting out on the road is hard to beat. A buddy and I have an annual tradition to head out for a weekend trip to explore the back roads and see where we end up. Just firing up the bike and preparing to hit the road is enough to make you forget about any worries or stress. One day I hope to share this with my kids when they are old enough to ride their own bikes, as then I will be able to combine two of my passions.
Watching Da Bears: When the NFL season rolls around, my wife pretty much knows that Sunday afternoons are booked as I will be watching the Bears game. I’ve been a Chicago Bears fan since I knew what football was and rarely miss a game – although my son has a Little League game in two weeks that conflicts with the Bears so I’ll have a dilemma there. My participation in fantasy football has only made me worse on Sundays as I will flip between games and check the rolling stats on the NFL Network. The Bears game is three hours of pure enjoyment for me – except when they lose and then my whole day is ruined. 🙂
There you have three things that I enjoy more than blogging. Two of those three things still take precedence over blogging with riding the motorcycle being the one that I have done less of lately.
To keep Damien’s meme rolling, I will tag the following people to see what interests they have outside of blogging:

Derek, we have a really vintage Harley dealer/shop up here in Victorville. It’s kind of a biker subculture in the surrounding blocks. get out there more and ride my friend. Do what brings you joy and then bring back the joy to the world.
Thanks for playin’ the meme!
Thanks for the tag, brother!
