Happy Halloween

Halloween
Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone has a fun and safe evening. We’ve got a nice little Halloween tradition on our street – all of the moms get together and hand out candy to the kids arriving at the door.
The dads load up a cooler with some “cold pops” and take all of the kids out trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. When we return home we have a big pot of chili on the stove and the kids have a few hot dogs off the grill.
The first batch of kids are hitting our house right now and we will be heading out soon ourselves.
Have fun and enjoy the sugar rush!

Really sweet of you to arrange all that in your street. Love the pumpkin!
I remember when I went trickntreating – too old now tho 🙁 When I have kids will be the next time I go.

Cold pops huh?
That sounds like a pretty cool Halloween tradition, but it wouldn’t work so well where I’m from….It’s not the case this year, but we generally have to plan for the costumes to fit over snowsuits.

Sounds like you have a lovely community there!
I think i would’ve liked to have been a kid on your street. 🙂

What a great way to spend Halloween. Wish I was in your neighborhood so I could get to enjoy the great treats. Cool pumpkin you have there!

I didn’t have any kids come by so I get to keep all the candy!! Happy belated Halloween.

That happened to me last year, I had a bunch of candy and only like 4 kids stopped by so I had plenty of candy to eat. This year I had to work so I didn’t even buy any candy.

Sounds like a nice tradition you have there. We had some nicely decorated homes in our area, in fact one home went so far as to install motion detectors. When kids would approach the home, ominous music would play…it was well done.

Halloween was a washout where I live, hardly anyone out and about…But then it isn’t really celebrated here…It’s nice that you have that tradition though.

@martoon :: Thanks for stopping by! It has been a fun tradition on our street and hopefully we will keep it up for many years to come.
@Nick :: We were pretty lucky this year ourselves as we usually have pretty cold temps by this time of year. The last few years have been relatively mild though.
@JC Carvill :: Lol, we were the envy of many other dads out yesterday when they saw our wagon full of beverages.
@Damien :: The chili was fantastic – the perfect ending to the night as it began to get a little colder before we got home.
@Glenn :: We sure enjoy it, thanks!
@FS :: Our house is pretty popular on Halloween as we give out the full size candy bars. All of the older kids always try to come back multiple times and they tell all of their friends as well.
@sebastienne :: You’d have had a great time in our neighborhood. Thanks for stopping by!
@Erik :: Hopefully you bought the candy that you like! Thanks for stopping by, it is good to see you again.
@iphone :: That sounds cool. We didn’t decorate our house up nearly as much as we have in previous years. When my wife was in cosmetology school, she kept about 10 of the fake heads and those always come in handy this time of year.
@JP :: Where are you from?

Hey happy Halloween to you too Derek. Hope you had a great time. I liked that concept of moms giving candy to all the kids arriving at the door. Wish I could go back to my childhood days.

Sorry that I missed that post. I think that it is a great tradition that you have there in your neighborhood. I do hope that it will continue in the future too.

How many children do you have Derek? What ages? Don’t you think parenthood is the most challenging, most frustrating and ultimately most rewarding job in the world?

I have two kids and would agree that parenting offers a good deal of challenges and frustrating moments but I wouldn’t change that for anything.
