The other day I was poking around on StumbleUpon and found an outstanding treasure of photos on the pages of a Stumbler by the name of CallmeSandy.
After being lost in the photos and stories for quite some time, I sent the Stumbler a message and have had the pleasure of bouncing messages back and forth about digital photography and cameras.
CallmeSandy, also known as Bob, is an ex-Marine Corps combat photographer, Vietnam Vet, and freelance photographer – with the emphasis on free. Bob is currently retired and just enjoying the freedom to be out and taking pictures of anything that interests him.
Through our conversations I asked him if he would mind me sharing a few of my favorite photos with all of you and he agreed. Hope you enjoy!

Each time I visit the collection of photos I find a few more that I love, which made it difficult to select a few for this post. There are some amazing photos of a house fire as well as some very cool photos of wildlife.
Also, be sure to check out the Ernie Liddle Story as I found that to be such a great story to read. Bob is great at telling a story with his photos but his captions and musings make it all that much better.
When you have some time, head on over to visit CallmeSandy so you can browse through all of the photos.
Thanks for letting me share a few of your photos Bob!

I stumbled this and hope it goes well. These are fantastic photos.
Those are great pics. Stumbled!
Lovely pix, i think my favorite one is the rainbow, looks like a serene spot and rainbows are such a sign of hope aren’t they?
There are some really nice photos there, I particularly like the macro of the bee!
After reading your blog and seeing the sample photos, I am quite tempted to visit Callmesandy, but at leisure as I am quite likely to get engrossed too!
@Jake :: Thanks for the stumble! It brought in a nice little bump of traffic, which is always appreciated.
@Damien :: Thanks to you as well!
@FS :: Yeah, I enjoy pictures of rainbows as well and love how this picture captures the reflection in the water.
@JP :: I’m a big fan of macro photos, unfortunately my current digital camera takes crummy macro shots.
@HRS :: You can lose a good deal of time browsing through all of Bob’s photos but it is time well spent in my opinion.
hi derek, macro is awesome!
what camera do you have? most new point and shoots even do a decent job of macro.
my friend took this with my (cheap) panasonic :

That is precisely my worry. Incidentally,I have visited once again and I agree that it is worth it.
awesome photography and thank that brave man for his service…the picture of the rainbow and the building are my favorites. P.S. it’s easy to get lost on someones stumble page…some awesome finds on that site
That’s what I love about StumbleUpon – you get exposed to so much more then you could on your own!
I was scrolling through these pics and the last one you have posted here immediately jumped out at me: it’s the John Hancock building in Boston. That caused me to look up CallmeSandy on SU and discover that he lives in my neck of the woods-pretty funny! Thanks for exposing us to these great photos.
Does are some cool photos there, especially the one with the building that misses the top 🙂
I always wondered are these kind of photos product of patience or active search. I drag my Sony with me, but I guess I just don’t see the opportunities.
I think it is the combination of patience and concentration (when you are out looking for shots) but you’ve got to have the eye for the job too!
Nice blog, keep it up!
OMG. Nice photos, will definitely stumble those.
That’s some fantastic work…! Even the wasp is beautiful, and they really creep me out.
Stumble is great for photography, really of all types. They don’t have it broken out into the genres a photographer would describe, but it’s incredibly fun to “channel surf” on Stumble.
These photos are very beautiful, thanks for your wonderful post, looking great especially the rainbow seems to be realistic….
stumbleupon is awesome. i don’t cruise through it too often though because i’m sure to get stuck!
Right, happens to me too. If I get a streak of 5 good websites, I can’t get off SU for quite a time.
Right now I don’t have much time to visit stumble upon, anyhow I shall go through it to by this night to find out of the rest of adventures by CallmeSandy.
very nice pictures.keep it up.
I really enjoyed the pics, I’ll stumble the post as well.
I really like the leaf in the ice. Thanks for the post
