Last month I had mentioned that I would be shooting for my fifth consecutive month of record earnings in November and had set a goal to break through the $400 per month level that I approached the previous two months.
However, I was not sure what would happen with the way Google has been toying with the page ranks of blogs as well as a few changes to their AdSense ads intended to reduce inadvertent clicks.
The numbers are in for the month of November and I have to tell you that I not only set a new all-time earnings record but I crushed my previous earnings record by more than 76%.
Dollars and Cents
My goal for the month of November was to continue the trend of record-breaking earnings for a fifth consecutive month and I destroyed that goal with ease.

The big jump this month came as a result of a private ad deal that I made, however that will not be a recurring payment so I will have my work cut out for me if I hope to make a 6th month of record earnings.
While I had a slight dip in AdSense earnings, I am actually encouraged by the CTR and eCPM so I am not too concerned. Almost all other sources of revenue resulted in increased earnings for the month and that is what allowed me to make a considerable jump in my earnings.
Plans for December
As I mentioned earlier, I was able to make a nice jump in private ad earnings as a result of a one-time transaction but that means I will need to work even harder this month to build upon this growth.
In an attempt to continue exploring new sources of revenue, I have launched two new sites to try and leverage the ability to earn affiliate sales. That will require a good deal of work as I need to drive traffic to those sites, although I am hoping to create a new design before giving that too much attention.
The best part of it all is that I still love what I am doing and having fun with everything that I am learning. If there is anything that you would like to know or ask about, I am always happy to share what I have learned so feel free to speak up in the comments or contact me via email.
As we enter the holiday season, I would just like to take a moment to thank everyone and wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season. Whether you are blogging to make money or just for fun, I hope all of your goals are within reach and that you are having as much fun as I am with blogging.

That is quite a leap in terms of earnings growth! Good for you. Good luck for the future, your two other site and also best wishes for the festive season to your family and you.
That’s some great work Derek. Keep it up!
Wow, I actually admire the way you work out those calculations. It will be great if it works out. I can use that as a guideline as well.
Excellent month, it’ll be that much more exciting when you hit $1,000/month 🙂
Congratulations and all the best for December. Thank you for the kind message which I heartily reciprocate.
Keep up the good work Derek. Been a pleasure watching your progress on here and on dadbalance.
Congratulations Derek for the big leap. Keep it up.
That’s amazing man! Great job on your current and future success! You sparked a very interesting question in my mind today…..In your opinion, what are the minimal stats a blog must have in order to get “private” advertisers?

Practice to Become Better
I am just wondering how is it possible that you have so low adsense revenues. What is your daily traffic man? With a site like this, you should reconsider adsense palcement. Revenues could doubled.
That’s so great, congrats. I’m sure you’ll do better for december. Happy holidays.
Congratulations Derek. A 76% increase is a really good effort!
All, thanks for the kind words and encouragement!
Dwayne, I don’t think there are any predetermined stats you must have to get private advertisers. While you will likely be able to charge more the better your stats, I wouldn’t let anything stop you from trying to land private ad deals.
Ryan, this site is no longer monetized by AdSense at all. On my finance site, I think the ad placement is pretty good and the conversions aren’t bad either. Feel free to share any thoughts though, I am always open to ideas.
i only use adsense and my earnings are 40 dollars/month 🙁
Congratulations Derek! 🙂
Thanks for sharing your numbers its fun to see other bloggers break down of where their money comes from. Good luck with this next month!
Nice figures! Beside the jump in earning due to the private ad deal you did, you must take into account the fact that traffic tends to increase during the months of November through February, declining in March until the end of Summer. Keep up the good work!
Congrats on the profits. It’s always nice to make money. 🙂
