When I first started buying domains and creating websites, I was using a hosting provider that was affordable and had absolutely outstanding service. As a matter of fact, I still have a handful of hosting packages with them.
Once I got started with blogging, I talked to a few bloggers – some of which are regulars around here – about the hosting provider that they were using and that is when I first discovered BlueFur.com. On their recommendation I decided to give them a try.
Since that day that I opened my account, I have had a few occasions to share my thoughts with you about the fact that BlueFur.com is a great hosting provider. There aren’t too many affordable hosts that will handle a front page digg the way they did when I hit the big time last year.
But that isn’t the best part.
One of the hidden advantages to a hosting provider such as BlueFur.com is the fact that you can host multiple domains all under one account.
This might not seem like a very big deal but it can really have a significant impact on your bottom line. As much as I enjoy the hosting provider that I mentioned at the beginning, I am required to have a separate account for each domain. Even though the cost of the account is quite reasonable, it adds up when you begin creating multiple sites.
By having the flexibility of hosting multiple sites under one account, you can experiment with various ideas and concepts without much of an investment. For the cost of a domain name, I can have a new site created without incurring an additional cost for a new hosting account.
The other day I received an email notification that a site I had created awhile back was coming up for renewal. Rather than pay the annual hosting renewal, I have opted to move this domain over to my BlueFur.com hosting account and will let the old hosting plan expire at the end of the month.
The site in question was an idea that I had to try and get my wife more involved with my Interweb adventures – Bead Insanity. My wife makes absolutely beautiful hand-made beaded jewelry and she was selling quite a bit at local craft shows. Originally I had hopes of creating a site to feature her work but she was not very interested and eventually the site became what it is today – and now all it will cost me to maintain is the domain renewal.
As you evaluate your hosting providers, pay attention to details such as the ability to host multiple domains under one account and you will likely find that you can save a considerable amount of money.

Your wife’s hand made bead jewellery sounds very interesting! Any chance of some pix?
I’ll see if she has anything made that I can use my new camera to snap a few pictures. I’ve been asking her for a few samples of the name bracelets that she makes – great gift for mothers – as I’d like to give away a couple on my Dad Balance blog.
True. Selecting the right web host can make a huge difference. I recently did some work for a client who had Windows hosting from GoDaddy. The host wanted me to set up a blog for him, and nothing works on windows – No wordpress, no php scripts. I spent the better part of a day trying to install a blog script for windows, before giving up and setting up FTP hosting using Blogger.com, which also, needless to say, was a really painful experience.
When it comes to choosing a host, I always recommend taking support into consideration as well. Personally, my blog is hosted on a dedicated server and I am not what one would call passionate about technical issues. Instead, I prefer to pick up the phone and give my host a call whenever I have any kind of questions. It is extremely important that you choose a host which provides great support since, let’s face it, you don’t want hosting to cause any problems when there are a lot of other issues to worry about as an online entrepreneur.

It is important to choose a host that can handle the traffic it has so from my experience I can recommend to check the ability of the host to grow and not become too slow.
Exactly, because the last thing you need to worry about is changing hosts when a lot of other issues require your attention. Making sure that your hosting provider will be able to offer great plans as you grow and make switching to them a piece of cake is always a must.

I am still looking for a good webhost in Germany. Same issues as you mention but above all, very bad English communication skills…
I have just take look at it and it’s a great web hosting. I will read further and if I like it I amy consider to move my hosting. Thanks.
BlueFur are a great company. I used to work there before branching out on my own. 🙂

Will the site allow more than 3 or 4 possible domains to be hosted on the same account. I’m looking to save money because I have more than one domain name & small site that I would love to be hosted on the same thing. I’ll check it out and thanks for the suggestion.
I’ve recently moved a number of my sites over to HostMonster as well, as I was hitting the storage space limit on my BlueFur account. I’ve been extremely happy with both of them, and they both offer the ability to host multiple domains on one account.
Let me know if you have any questions.
