Speedlinking – We Have A Winner

by derek on February 25, 2008 · 13 comments

Normally the last Speedlinking post of the month is used to share a little link love with the blogs that have referred the most traffic over the previous month. While that will not change today, this edition is a little special as it also involves the announcement of the winner in the most unique blog contest on the Interweb.
For those that might not remember, I had offered a contest where the blog that referred the most traffic between February 1st and February 25th would win free money – $106.34 to be exact.

The Winner Is…

Dave Pitlyuk trounced the competition and ran away with the cash prize. Congratulations Dave!
Shortly after the contest started, I began to see traffic from Dave’s site in my Google Analytics account. A lot of traffic. Taking a closer look at Dave’s site, I noticed that he took advantage of the fact that I said referred traffic was valid as long as GA counted the visit. In the end, Dave ended up with over 2,000 more referred visits than the closest competitor.
For the time being, I will refrain from disclosing the method that Dave used as he might want to share that on his own blog. Dave’s method was so evil one might think his last name was Chow. 😉

With all of the new readers that come to the blog, it is always interesting to see which posts get the most attention. There are a handful of posts that continue to show up on a regular basis but there are also new posts added to the list each month.

Your comments regularly get caught in the spam filter and I need to do a better job of browsing through there for non-spammy comments. Unfortunately, there are more and more of those every day.
